About Me
I was born and raised in Asheville, NC and am the oldest of three kids. My father is a pediatric dentist and my mother was a high school English teacher so serving the children of our community was front and center in our lives. This was further enforced through sports as my father, a former UNC basketball player, became extremely involved in youth basketball and girls’ basketball in particular. He helped develop a wonderful girls youth basketball program in our county as well as an AAU team when I showed a love and passion for the game.
I followed in my father’s footsteps when I accepted a full athletic scholarship to play Women’s Basketball at The University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. There I was a two-year team captain, member of the student-athlete advisory council, and student speaker for the Educational Foundation. I also continued to develop a love of coaching and working with kids that began in HS and grew more in college through working various summer camps and volunteering time throughout the year with local youth teams. I have continued that passion throughout my life working with individual players, coaching various youth basketball teams, and even volunteering and stepping in as head coach of a girl’s HS Varsity Basketball Team when I lived for a short time in Roanoke, VA. I ran a free basketball clinic for area kids throughout the pandemic, have coached Falls Church City youth sports, and am now coaching my son’s AAU basketball team.
Upon graduating UNC with a degree in Communications, I have spent most of my professional life being a top performer in the medical sales field. The past 12 years I have worked in diagnostic testing providing education, consulting, troubleshooting, project implementation, and service to many of Washington D.C.’s medical organizations. I have had a particular focus in women’s health and genetic testing for the past several years but was extremely involved in and on-site for helping educate, roll out, and support COVID testing protocols and initiatives for several of the large medical groups and hospitals throughout the pandemic. Additionally, I am on our company’s internal corporate leadership sales committee.
Married and the mother to one amazing, out-going, strong-willed, bright, talkative, and extremely tall soon-to-be 4th grade boy (who is currently at Oak Street Elementary) I have spent the past 8 yrs living in Falls Church City and continue my love of being involved in youth sports as my son’s interests have gone in that direction. I bring to the table a unique life experience and skill set that has been built on determination, hard work, thick skin, mental toughness, relationship and team building, responsiveness, diplomacy, listening, effective communication, competitiveness, passion, critical thinking, and diligence. I am service and goal-oriented and a strong leader both in personal and professional endeavors. I want to further serve this community as a school board member and feel my perspective and values will help add to what is already a great school system.
